FIELD DAY 2010

Nassau County ARES put on a great show for Field Day 2010 with the help of St. John's County ARES, the Crown District, and the Lowes Home Improvement Center!

June 25-27, we put on a BBQ fundraiser, played radio and gave the public a good show all in the name of FIELD DAY! The number of hams and non-hams who helped make it a great weekend  is too long to list. Upwards of 20 came from all over to help us make it a great event! Below are some of the photos from the FUN!

Curtis, KE4BXR, tends to his amazing techni-flavor dream machine......Wow did those ribs and chicken taste good!
Patti, WK1E, and Dwayne, KQ4XF, dish up some BBQ magic. We made a small profit with the BBQ fundraiser!

With a G5RV already installed east-to-west overhead, the team works on a helium-filled weather balloon that will raise an 80 meter vertical loop in a north-south orientation.

Rich, KI4GTS and Nassau County EC, Doug, N4FPS and Crown District EC, Brian, KC5LPA and Nassau County AEC, and Peter, KC1SS and St. Johns County EC all pitch in to help get the balloon aloft.

Lueann, KJ4SXP, and Patti, WK1E, HAMMING it up for the camera.

The radio tents where all the action was! The visitor's table is to the right.

Generators kept us off shorepower and got us those contest bonus points.

Brian, KC5LPA, and Doug, N4FPS, adjust the "SKYWATCH" camera receiver and monitor. A small wireless camera was suspended from the balloon and gave us a live video feed of the parking lot at Lowes.

Chowing down on the BBQ!!

Roger, KG4VYJ, and Rich, KI4GTS standing proud outside the radio tents they helped set up.

Lamar Bryant, manager of the Fernandina Beach Lowes Home Improvement Center, and Brian, KC5LPA, commemorate the Field Day Event!
