THE NEW NASSAU COUNTY EMERGENCY OPERATIONS CENTER

Nassau County ARES is helping Nassau County Emergency Management with operations at the new EOC

NC ARES will be operating the EOC amateur radio stations during emergencies as well as helping to maintain some of the other emergency communications equipment.

November 14-18th, 2011. After the great "mold incident" of 2011, NC ARES installed new wood cabinets in our new dedicated communications room in the EOC. Thanks to the team below for the effort! Also, a special shout out to Fred Sanders for doing all the finish work on the unpainted cabinets that NCEM Danny Hinson bought for our communications room.

We still have a lot of work to do installing radios under the new cabinets but they do look good!

New STI discone antenna for scanner operations and monitoring broadcast frequencies.

It's not finished but it is getting close. The radios in the communications room are all mounted under the cabinets. All cabling will be hidden from view with the power supplies up in the cabinets. Electro-Voice audio mixers will keep speakers to a minimum and headphones will make if possible for several operators to work side by side.....

March 2-3, 2010 NC ARES installed the antenna systems at the EOC. This effort included 5 antennas, custom antenna mounts, associated transmission lines, jumpers, ground wires, and lightning protection. In attendance for the effort were a group from Nassau County as well as some friends from Jacksonville!
